The buzz around the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy 2025 is all-time high as it is scheduled to be in Pakistan. This will be the first ICC tournament to be held on Pakistani soil since the 1996 World Cup. However, there's still a big question over Indian cricket teams' participation in the mega tournament. A BCCI source revealed to SportsTak that the Indian Cricket Board will ask the central government on this matter after the general elections and will follow whatever decision they come up with.
BCCI to give major Champions Trophy update after general election
Due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan, the Men in Blue have not played a single match on Pakistan soil since 2008. Both teams only compete against each other in ACC and ICC events and have not competed against each other in a bilateral contest in the last decade.
Last year, the Asia Cup was also supposed to be held in Pakistan but it was later co-hosted by Sri Lanka in a hybrid model for India's matches. However, the decision for the Champions Trophy will only be decided by the Central government tells the decision to BCCI after the general election.
India vs Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024
Before the Champions Trophy 2025, India and Pakistan will be competing against each other in the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 set to be held in the USA and West Indies. The arch-rivals have been placed in Group A and will go one-on-one in match 19 of the mega tournament at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, in New York, on June 9. They can collide again in the tournament depending on the knockout fixtures.
