India captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with her 84-ball 102 as India beat England in high-scoring decider by 13 runs at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on July 22 to clinch series 2-1. Chasing a target of 319, the hosts put up a fight with captain Nat Sciver-Brunt scoring 98, half-century from Emma Lamb and Alice Davidson-Richards' 34-ball 44 but they fell short of the target. Kranti Goud starred with a six-wicket haul.
Steady start for India
In the decider, Harmanpreet won the toss and opted to bat first. India got off to a decent start. Smriti Mandhana hit Lauren Bell for a hat-trick of fours. Charlie Dean broke the opening partnership in the 13th over with Pratika Rawal's wicket. She scored 26 runs from 33 balls, including two fours. A few overs later, Sophie Ecclestne got the better of Mandhana. She scored 45 runs from 54 balls. Harmanpreet and Harleen Deol rebuilt the innings. Like Mandhana, Deol missed her fifty too. Bell came back into the attack and dismissed Deol for a 64-ball 45. In the 37th over, Harmanpreet reached her half-century from 54 balls.
Harmanpreet hits ton, Rodrigues scores fifty then Ghosh goes berserk
The acceleration came in the 41st over with Jemimah Rodrigues hitting Dean for three consecutive boundaries. In her last over, Dean conceded three fours. Harmanpreet went berserk in the slog overs. In the 46th over, Rodrigues completed her half-century from 44 balls. She lost her wicket to a short ball from Lauren Filer. In the next over, Harmanpreet reached her seventh ODI ton from 82 balls. This is the second-fastest ODI ton for India. Richa Ghosh did not take much time to get going. In the penultimate over, India crossed the 300-run mark. Ghosh's catch was dropped but Sciver-Brunt took an excellent catch to end Harmanpreet's stay at the crease. She scored 102 runs from 84 balls, including 14 fours. In the last over, 13 runs were scored, including a six of Ghosh's bat. Her unbeaten 18-ball 38 helped India post 318/5.
Beaumont, Lamb stabilise run chase after Kranti's double strike
In the run chase, run chase, England lost a wicket in the first over. Tammy Beaumont got bowled for a single-digit score by Kranti Goud. In her next over, she dismissed Amy Jones as well. From 8/2, England needed a partnership. Sciver-Brunt took 11 deliveries to get off the mark. Sneh Rana bowled two maidens in a row. They accelerated after playing themselves in. In the 22nd over, Sciver-Brunt reached her half-century from 67 balls. In the 25th over, Lamb completed her fifty from 63 balls. England were 129/2 at the halfway stage. Shree Charani created a chance in the 29th over but could not hold on to the ball on followthrough. In her next over, she knocked over Lamb. She scored 68 runs from 81 balls, including five fours.
After Sciver-Brunt's wicket, Goud takes six-fer
After a few quiet overs, Sciver-Brunt's patience gave up as well. She went for a big sweep and got caught. She scored 98 runs from 105 balls, including 19 fours. Davidson-Richards and Sophia Dunkley kept the run chase alive. In the 41st over, the English batters were involved in a mix-up, leading to Dunkley getting run out for a 36-ball 34. Dean attacked straightaway, understanding the need of the hour. Goud returned to end Dean's cameo of 15-ball 21. Ecclestone could not do much with the bat and lost her wicket to Charani. In the 48th over, Davidson Richards hit Goud for a six and a four. On the fifth delivery, she was dismissed for a 34-ball 44. On the next ball, Goud got rid of Filer to complete her maiden fifer. In the final over, England needed 23 runs to win. Goud conceded a six but bowled out England with Bell's wicket, ending the match with a six-fer.

Goud became the fifth Indian bowler to take a six-wicket haul in ODIs. She is also the second-youngest Indian to take a fifer in ODIs. This is the first time India have won an ODI and T20I series on England soil on same tour.
