The coach of the Lucknow Super Giants franchise Justin Langer has shown his curiosity in replacing Rahul Dravid as India's future head coach. He said the idea is really interesting and he is quite fascinated about it. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited applications for the position of head coach of the senior men's team, on May 13, and the last date to submit the applications is May 27.

Justin Langer has previously coached the Australian men's team between 2018 to 2022. He later joined Lucknow Super Giants as their coach by replacing Andy Flower in 2023. He believes coaching the Indian team is an extraordinary role.
"Well, I am curious. I've never ever thought about it. I have deep respect for any international coach because I understand the pressure, but coaching the Indian team would be an extraordinary role. From what I've seen with the amount of talent I've seen in this country, it would be fascinating," Langer told TOI.

BCCI's criteria for head coach post
"The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates,” the BCCI said in a release.
Here are the minimum requirements for the head coach position
- The applicant should have played 30 Tests or 50 ODIs; or
- The applicant is of a full-member Test-playing nation. He should have represented his side for at least two years; or
- The applicant should have been head coach of an Associate member nation/Indian Premier League (IPL) team or an international T20 league/First-class team/national A teams, for a minimum period of three years; or
- The applicant should have BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent. Also, the applicant should be below 60 years of age.
