Nitish Kumar Reddy has emerged as an exception in the cricketing world amidst youngsters eyeing monetary benefits chasing an opportunity in the T20 leagues. The trend suggests that youngsters are desperate to feature in IPL and T20 leagues ignoring the red-ball cricket that requires patience and actual cricketing brilliance. Nitish on the other hand has revealed his road map where he is eyeing to prioritize red-ball cricket over anything else. His brilliant season with Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year's IPL 2024 earned the seaming all-rounder an India call-up for the Zimbabwe T20Is last month. But he was later sidelined for a month due to a groin injury that played the spoilsport in his potential debut.

Nitish in an interaction with The Telegraph has revealed his plan to solidify his red ball performances in order to make a spot for himself in the national side.

"Red-ball cricket defines your technique, character and everything else. It's the longest format which keeps throwing challenges, that's why it’s called a Test. So, the better you play it, the more you grow as a cricketer. I believe red-ball cricket is the biggest format

Nitish told The Telegraph

"I’m focusing a bit more on my bowling part right now. I believe if I improve my bowling and be consistent in hitting the right areas in conjunction with my batting and fielding, I'll be on track to serve the Indian team"

He added

Nitish reveals Cummins' advice

Enjoying the healthy competition with other bowling all-rounders Nitish stated how he seeks inspiration from them, he also revealed the insights and advice shared during the IPL by his Sunrisers Captain Pat Cummins.

"I keep getting inspired by the other bowler all-rounders and wish I play as well as them because I know how hard it is to be an all-rounder"

said Nitish

"Keeping the confidence level up all the time and hitting one length consistently"

Nitish reveals Cummins' advice

After a successful rehab at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru that helped him to regain fitness, Nitish will return to cricketing action in the Duleep Trophy 2024 starting on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. He will represent Team B led by Abhimanyu Easwaran. When the selectors announced four teams of the Duleep Trophy 2024, Nitish was named in the squad with an asterisk signifying subject to fitness. Nitish has cleared his fitness and will be seen in action in Duleep Trophy 2024. The series will be an ideal roadmap to prove himself in the eyes of selectors as a prominent seam bowling all-rounder a skill set the team management is looking to add to their armory after Hardik Pandya has decided to not play in whites for India. Hardik last played a Test for India in 2018 against England at Southampton.
