India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is on the verge of achieving a big milestone in red-ball cricket and can go on to to script history in the first Test against South Africa that will commence from November 14. The 36-year-old is currently in a great form when it comes to the longest format and needs just 10 runs more to reach the 4000-run mark.
This will see him become only the fourth player in history to take over 300 Test wickets and score over 4000 Test runs. As of now, Kapil Dev is the only Indian who holds the milestone while the two other players with the record are England's Ian Botham and New Zealand's Daniel Vettori.
Jadeja's stellar performance vs West Indies
Jadeja's previous outing in Test was against West Indies in the two-match series that got concluded last month. He put up a Player of the Match performance in the first game, scoring a fine century and picking up a 4-fer in West Indies' second innings. He didn't get a chance to bat in both of India's innings in the second game but was once again impressive with the ball, picking up four wickets in total.
Jadeja's superb numbers in Tests
The veteran all-rounder has so far played 87 Tests in his already illustrious career, scoring 3990 runs and racking up 338 wickets. Jadeja's contributions in both the batting and bowling departments for the team has been nothing short of exceptional and that is why he has been a key figure in the Test set-up for years. He will be looking to maintain his fiery form in the series against South Africa.
