England's star white-ball all-rounder Sam Curran's older brother Ben Curran is set to make his T20I debut for Zimbabwe this week. Sam wrote an emotional message for brother Ben as he gears up for the T20I clash against Afghanistan. The all-rounder feels that their father Kevin Curran who played 11 ODIs for Zimbabwe will be happy to see Ben make his T20I debut.
"Such special news, couldn't be happier for you. Someone will be looking down with a huge smile on their face today," said Sam in a post on social media.
Sam and Ben's older brother Tom Curran also reposted the story and wrote: "Ditto that. Very Proud."
Kevin's international and domestic career
Kevin made his ODI debut for Zimbabwe against Australia in 1983. He made his last ODI appearance in 1987. The pacer took nine wickets from 11 ODIs. Also, he scored 287 runs at an average of 26.09 including two half-centuries.
However, he had an illustrious first-class career and represented English county Northamptonshire. He has 605 wickets from 324 games. Also, he has 15,740 runs at an average of 36.86 including 25 centuries and 85 fifties. In List A cricket (domestic One-Day), he has 9,194 runs at an average of 30.34 including one century and 53 fifties With the ball, he has 364 wickets in List A cricket including 11 four-wicket hauls and one fifer.
Ben's T20 career
Ben has represented Northamptonshire as well. He is a left-handed batter who can chip in with a few overs of off-spin as well. The 28-year-old has 575 runs from 30 T20s at an average of 21.29 including six half-centuries.
The three-T20I series will begin on December 11 in Harare. The next two T20Is will be played at the same venue on December 13 and 14.
