Five renowned batters that could not hit a single six in IPL.

The game has shifted more in favor of the batters since the Twenty20 format was created and it is now appearing to be more simpler for players to strike massive sixes. For example, Chris Gayle has hit up to 846 sixes in the format, of which 292 have come in the Indian Premier League. Even while Gayle's statistics appear impressive, not everyone has a comparable track record of hitting sixes. Some batsmen have not even cracked a six in their IPL careers. Here are five prominent names who have not scored a single six in the IPL.

5 - Callum Ferguson

Australian batter Callum Ferguson is not a name that many people would know. The right-hander has played for the Australian side in one Test, thirty ODIs, and three Twenty20 Internationals. Ferguson participated in the 2011 and 2012 Indian Premier League as a member of the Pune Warriors India franchise. Ferguson, who represented them in up to nine games, amassed 98 runs at a strike rate of 83.76—a strike rate below average in the Twenty20 format—and averaged just over sixteen. He also scored 98 runs without hitting a single six.

4 - Michael Klinger

Similar to Callum Ferguson, not many people are aware of the most unlucky Australian player of the past ten years, Michael Klinger, who was only able to play three international matches at the age of 37. These figures seem disproportionate given the success he had at the domestic level. The right-hander was also involved in the IPL, having been acquired by Kochi Tuskers Kerala prior to the 2011 season, where he played four games and amassed 73 runs at an average of 18.25 and a strike rate of 94.81 without striking a single six.

3 - Aakash Chopra

With almost 10,000 runs at an average of 45 in first-class cricket, former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra is a legend. He has made ten appearances for the Indian squad in the lengthier formats. In his limited T20 career, the opener has managed to score just one six and 334 runs at a strike rate of 91.25 in 21 matches. However, the same cannot be said of his batting in the format. He played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League for the first two seasons, amassing 53 runs off 71 balls at a strike rate of 75, but that six did not come in that competition.

2 - Shoaib Malik

During the 2008 IPL season, Shoaib Malik was one of the Pakistani players. The right-hander played for the Delhi Daredevils and was selected seven times for the starting lineup. His IPL stint was a complete flop, hence he was unable to maintain his T20I batting figures. He only scored 52 runs at an average of 13 and a strike rate of over 110 in the five innings he was able to bat. He did not manage to cross the boundary once in the 47 balls he faced during the competition.

1 - Michael Clarke

Due to his frequent withdrawals from the IPL owing to national obligations, former Australian captain Michael Clarke was one of the most sought-after stars in the competition. He was purchased at the auction by the Pune Warriors India team, ahead of the 2012 Indian Premier League. His expectations were not met as the right-hander was unable to repeat his national championship success in the IPL. In the six games he was able to play that season, he faced 94 balls and scored 98 runs without hitting a six.
