IPL transfer window produced one of its biggest moves when Rishabh Pant completed a return to Delhi Capitals (DC) while India spinner Kuldeep Yadav headed in the opposite direction to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The blockbuster swap has generated widespread discussion among fans, but it was former DC opener David Warner's reaction to the move that quickly grabbed attention.

Pant's homecoming marks the end of his brief stint with LSG and a reunion with the franchise where he established himself as one of the league's premier wicketkeeper-batters. However, Warner's comments on social media have added another layer to the conversation surrounding the high-profile trade.

Warner's response to Parth Jindal sparks discussion
Following the completion of the deal, DC co-owner Parth Jindal shared a heartfelt message thanking Kuldeep Yadav for his contributions over the last five years while welcoming Rishabh Pant back to the franchise.
The post prompted a response from Warner, who reflected on how IPL auctions can shape a player's journey. In his reply, the Australian suggested that circumstances can change when a franchise that once wanted a player misses out in an auction, only to secure his services later through a trade.
Warner wrote:
"It was always going to happen. Auctions can get out of hand, and if there is a dip in form and one owner wants to get rid of you while the other wanted you but was unfortunately outbid, you can bide your time."
The remark quickly sparked debate among fans, with many interpreting it as a reference to Pant's move away from Lucknow and his eventual return to Delhi.
How the Pant-Kuldeep trade unfolded
Pant returns to Delhi after spending two seasons with LSG. Prior to that, he represented the Capitals for nine seasons and played 111 matches for the franchise, the most by any player in the team's history. He also captained the side and became one of its most recognizable figures.
LSG had acquired Rishabh Pant for ₹27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, making him one of the most expensive players in league history. However, his stint with the franchise did not unfold as expected, with the wicketkeeper-batter struggling to consistently deliver as both captain and player.
Under the latest agreement, Pant rejoins DC at a revised salary of ₹15 crore, while Kuldeep Yadav moves to Lucknow on his existing ₹13.5 crore contract after enjoying a successful spell with the Capitals.
