An Insider has dropped a major update on Zinedine Zidane’s future as the head coach of the France national football team. Zidane has a long-standing verbal agreement with the French Football Federation to become the next head coach of the France national team after the 2026 World Cup.
The legendary footballing superstar has previously turned down opportunities from clubs like Manchester United and PSG, prioritizing the France job. His managerial resume includes three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, making him a compelling choice to lead a star-studded squad featuring Kylian Mbappé and other talents.
Insider drops massive update on Zidane's plan to replace Didier Deschamps as France's head coach
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, there is no change in Zidane’s plans as “verbal agreement ready since months to become next France head coach.” The transfer expert stated that the plan is stated to be in work after the upcoming FIFA World Cup. However, nothing has been signed so far as the former Real Madrid boss and the federation has all respect for the current France head coach, Deschamps.
Zidane, a French football icon who captained the team to the 1998 World Cup title on home soil, has been patiently awaiting the role since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo has hinted that a successor is already identified, aligning with the plan for a smooth transition once Deschamps steps down following the tournament in North America.
The anticipated appointment marks the end of Deschamps' 14-year reign, during which he guided France to the 2018 World Cup victory and the 2022 final. Meanwhile, Deschamps has won the World Cup with France as both the player and the manager. He also captained the side in the 1998 tournament before leading the side to win the 2018 major.
