Real Madrid secured yet another 1-0 win on Wednesday in La Liga. Arda Guler's lone goal proved to be the exclamation point in the Los Blancos' win over Getafe at the Coliseum. The victory has kept Madrid alive in the La Liga title race, and now all attention is towards the Copa del Rey final, which is scheduled to take place this weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti Confirms Real Madrid Have Suffered Injuries
While they were able to topple the opposition once again in a must-win game, the victory over Getafe has come at a major cost for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that two players have sustained injuries and will likely miss the upcoming Copa del Rey fixture against FC Barcelona.
Following the culmination of the game against Getafe, Ancelotti told the media that the injuries suffered by David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga are expected to be serious and owing to that both may miss out on the cup final against arch-rivals Barcelona.
“Camavinga has to be seen tomorrow, but his and Alaba’s are muscular discomfort, and it is difficult for him to be present on Saturday. Yes, Fran García is the only alternative to left-back.” As per Marca.
While there were doubts on whether Alaba will be in the reckoning for the final against Barcelona, Camavinga however was certain to play. The Frenchman getting injured comes as a huge setback for Madrid.
Real Madrid Boss on Hard-Fought Win Against Getafe
Ancelotti also expressed his thoughts on the victory over Getafe, which was hard to come by.
“I’m not upset because the objective was to get the three points. The first half was better and the second half was more suffering. Güler played as an interior, and he did very well. It’s true that we’ve looked for more solidity at the back and we lack more effectiveness up front. We have to be more effective.
Ancelotti's Trust in Rodrygo Unbudged
Ancelotti spoke highly of Arda Guler, who was Real Madrid’s matchwinner, and also had something to say about Endrick Felipe, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo Goes.
“Güler’s future is going to be more as a midfield than a forward. The quality he has in the construction of the game is phenomenal. Endrick has had two chances. The first one could not do better. The second is offside. Brahim has been out a bit in recent periods but has come in well. Today he played a very complete game in every way. Statistically, Rodrygo has to play because if he hasn’t scored in a while he will, I fully trust him.”
