Denny Hamlin, a star performer in NASCAR winning the Series race 54 times, has recently gone through a rough patch. Hilariously he blamed his dog 'Lulu' for his recent performance in the second half of the NASCAR Cup Series season. He talked about the difficulties and challenges he faced to be at the front of the field. He adopted his dog in St. Louis.

Denny Hamlin wanted to have the finishing positions which he asked Allen to give him. He picked the dog Lulu by the river since the St. Louis race weekend. He finished 2nd at World Wide Technology Raceway. But the drive had a dismal run in the next races.

"If y'all don't mind, give me my average finish since St. Louis when we picked this damned dog up by the river. We'll then make an executive decision as parents whether we're going to keep this dog or not,"  Hamlin said.

On his Actions Detrimental podcast Hamlin and Co-host Jared Allen talked about his performance.

Sonoma 38th, Iowa 24th, New Hampshire 24th, Nashville 12th, Chicago 30th…” Allen said

“Nashville 12th. What a joke that was,” said the NASCAR star.

Allen jokingly continued telling the driver's position.
“Pocono second, Indy 32nd, Richmond second, Michigan ninth, Daytona 38th, Darlington seventh, and then Atlanta 24th,” said Allen.

Denny Hamlin finished 24th in the first NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race. His race strategy was staying at the back in anticipation. He had a target to score at least 20 points before competing in the next two races of Round 16. Denny Hamlin exited Atlanta with a mere 13 points seeing a dip to 11th and +2 to the playoff cut line.

Hamlin's confidence

Hamlin despite his struggles remains confident for the next two playoff races.
"Am I comfortable? No. Because certainly, I know that some others, things can happen certainly. But I know that the next two tracks, tires are going to be a big thing. At Watkins Glen, we've got a new tire going there that's got seconds of fall off apparently, and if that's the case then you could be at the good end or bad end of that. Then you've got Bristol, you don't know that we're going to have a race like the spring or a race like the fall,”  The Toyota Driver said in the same podcast.
