As the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season comes to a close, all eyes are now on the highly anticipated Awards Banquet, where standout drivers and teams will be recognized for their achievements throughout the season. One of the biggest highlights of the evening will be Joey Logano’s recognition as the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series champion. This victory marks Logano's third Cup title, solidifying his place as one of the sport's elite drivers.
The Awards Banquet, which has been a staple of NASCAR's postseason celebrations since its inception in 1981, is set to take place this year in Charlotte, North Carolina, the heart of stock car racing. Traditionally held in various cities over the years, this marks the first time the event will be hosted in Charlotte, widely known as the "Stock Car Racing Capital of the World."
NASCAR Awards Banquet 2024: Date and Location
The 2024 NASCAR Awards Banquet will take place on November 21 at the Charlotte Convention Center. This venue will serve as the new home for the event, following a history of rotating locations. The banquet was originally held in New York City but moved to Las Vegas in 2009. It then shifted to Nashville in 2019, before making its way back to Charlotte this year.
Michelle Byron, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Partnership and Licensing Officer, shared her excitement about the move to Charlotte:
"We are pleased to announce our move to the Queen City for our postseason celebrations. Being able to trace many of our sport’s racing roots back to the North Carolina area, you can feel the energy and passion for NASCAR from the fans in Charlotte. We’re excited to officially crown our champions in the Queen City."
The banquet will not only honor champions from the NASCAR Cup Series, but also celebrate champions from the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series, as well as the NASCAR Regional and International Series for the second consecutive year.
2024 NASCAR Champions
Joey Logano, driving for Team Penske, will be celebrated for winning his third NASCAR Cup Series championship, joining an exclusive group of drivers with three or more titles. Logano’s victory at Phoenix Raceway was a thrilling one, as he crossed the finish line ahead of teammate and defending champion Ryan Blaney. Logano’s triumph places him among the sport’s all-time greats, following in the footsteps of legends like Lee Petty, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, and Tony Stewart, all of whom also earned three Cup championships.
In the Xfinity Series, Justin Allgaier captured his first-ever championship after a remarkable 14 seasons of full-time competition. This victory also marked a special achievement for Dale Earnhardt Jr., whose team, JR Motorsports, secured its third Xfinity Series title. Dale Jr. previously won two championships as a driver in 1998 and 1999.
Finally, in the Craftsman Truck Series, Ty Majeski claimed his first title by dominating the season. Majeski, driving the No. 98 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing, secured three wins, 10 top-5 finishes, and 14 top-10 finishes, solidifying his place as one of the rising stars of the series.
As the 2024 NASCAR season wraps up, the Awards Banquet promises to be a star-studded celebration, honoring the best in stock car racing across all three national series. Fans, teams, and drivers alike are looking forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable evening as NASCAR crowns its champions in Charlotte, the sport's most iconic city.
