India ace Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has shared a heartfelt post after he missed the spot in the World Athletics Championships. Chopra, who entered the Javelin meet as defending champion, has been eliminated after his best effort of 84.03m came in the fifth round of the finals, which left him in eighth place overall.
Chopra, who is India's only Olympic gold medallist in Javelin throw, penned down an emotional social media post after ending his campaign at the World Championships in Tokyo. The double Olympic medallist thanked everyone for their support.

"It's not how I had hoped to end the season, at the World Championships in Tokyo. I wanted to step out there and give my best for India despite all the challenges but it wasn't my night. I'm really happy for Sachin, who threw a personal best and almost brought home a medal. Congratulations to @keshorn_walcott, @peters_oly and @Curt_Thompson_ on their well-deserved podium places. Grateful for all your support, this only makes me determined to come back stronger" wrote Neeraj Chopra
Neeraj's best throw of the final was just 84.02m, falling significantly short of his personal best of 90.23m. Chopra's visible frustration was clear as he let out a roar of disappointment after being eliminated in the fifth round.
This is the first time in seven years that Neeraj has been unable to clinch a medal at an international javelin competition and also ended his remarkable four-year streak of finishing in the top two at every major event. It was a night of upsets, as Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan also had a disappointing performance. Nadeem finished in tenth place after a series of underwhelming throws and was eliminated early. Notably, only the top six throwers will take part in the sixth and final round in the medal race.
