Days ahead of the ODI series opener against Afghanistan, India’s senior all-rounder, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, have received clearance from Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). After coming back from his holiday following Mumbai Indians' (MI) exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Pandya reported at the CoE on June. Over the week, he underwent match simulations. He has started bowling his full quota of 10 overs, clearing air over his match fitness.

"Hardik was on a holiday abroad before he checked in at the CoE on June 2. Over the next five days, he did several match simulations and even bowled (full quota of) 10 overs," a BCCI source told PTI.
"There has been no discomfort and the information is that his fitness data for various parameters has been okayed by Strength and Conditioning coaches at the CoE," the source added.
On June 8, India's assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak was unsure of the duo's participation in the ODI series. In the post-Test press conference, he was unaware of any update on the two senior players.
Rohit gets RTP too
Former India skipper Rohit Sharma reported at CoE after Pandya. Rohit had a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 which led to him missing several matches. He played as an impact player throughout the season. He was assessed and got the RTP after an examination.
Meanwhile, Rohit and Pandya are unlikely to join Team India in Mullanpur. They are expected to link up with the squad in Dharamsala where the first ODI of the series will be played on June 13.
Jaiswal replaces Kohli
Last week, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was named as replacement for an injured Virat Kohli. The top-order batter suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final where he scored an unbeaten 75 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the successful run chase. Kohli is likely to recover before the ODI series in England.
Ahead of the ODI series opener, it is uncertain whether Jaiswal bats at no.3, out of his usual position as an opener and ahead of Ishan Kishan who was already a part of the squad.
