While fans were building an enmity between India and Pakistan, the players continued their spirit of friendship during the much-awaited clash in Dubai on Sunday, August 28. During the run chase, India's all-round hero Hardik Pandya hugged Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan from behind.

The video went viral on Twitter and fans flooded the internet with different reactions. Many of the Twitterati compared the moment with the close bond between Imran Khan and Kapil Dev.

“Like how Kapil Dev & Imran Khan used to greet each other, Virat Kohli & Shaheen, We admire & love this moment when Hardik Pandya Hugs Muhammad Rizwan,” a Twitter user wrote.

Hardik scored a brilliant 33 runs off just 17 balls and also bagged three wickets winning the Players of the match award as well. He shared a 52-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja, helping India chase down a target of 148 runs and earning his team a five-wicket victory against the Men in Green.

India exacted sweet revenge on Pakistan in their opening game of the 2022 Asia Cup, having lost to their bitter rivals in the  2021 T20 World Cup by 10 wickets. Pandya was also effective with the ball, providing the crucial breakthrough. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikar Ahmed stitched a crucial partnership in the powerplay overs before Iftikar's knock came to an end in the 13th over. He also dismissed Rizwan, who missed out on his half-century and got out for a 42-ball 43.

India's next challenge will see them face Hong Kong in their Group A fixture and a win will effectively seal their place in the super 4 stage of the competition.
