Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team completely changed the dynamic of the second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Cricket Stadium in Kanpur with their aggressive style of game, on Day four of the match. The first three days were heavily impacted by rain and Day 2 or 3 were completely washed out without a single ball being bowled. Everyone thought that the match was heading towards a draw but now a win for the hosts is not appearing to be too farfetched.
India steal show on Day 4
On the fourth day of Monday's rain-affected second Test match against Bangladesh, Indian batters went on a rampage, setting new world marks for the quickest team 50, 100, and 200 runs. After Rohit Sharma's early fireworks (23 off 11 balls, 3x6s, 1x4s), Yashasvi Jaiswal struck 10 fours and a six to make the fourth-fastest fifty for any Indian batter from 31 balls. He was then removed for 72 (51 balls, 12x4s, 2x6s). Here at Green Park on Monday, the two Indian openers were hitting it out of the park, breaking the 50-run barrier in just three overs.

India thereby broke England's record, which they had set in July of this year at Trent Bridge against the West Indies, for the fastest team fifty overs in 4.2 overs. No. 3 Shubman Gill stepped in to punish the Bangladeshi bowlers as Jaiswal persisted in his aggressive style, helping India surpass the three-figure threshold in 10.1 overs and set a new record. In 2023, at Port of Spain, India beat the West Indies by scoring 100 runs in 12.2 overs, the fastest century for any side in terms of overs faced.
In response to Bangladesh's 233 all out in the first innings, Indians chose to go all out with the bat. KL Rahul's 43-ball 68 and Virat Kohli's rapid 47 later on saw them pass the 200-run barrier in the fastest time ever recorded by any side, 24.2 overs. Australia had the record for the quickest 200 meters, which was broken by India against Pakistan in the 2017 Sydney Test. After scoring runs at an average of 8.22 per over, India eventually declared their innings at the fall of the penultimate wicket, having only gone 285 for nine in just 34.4 overs. The first three days of this final Test could only see 35 overs of play because of the ground conditions and continuous rain.
Ashwin strikes twice before stumps
Then before stumps on Day 4, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up two more wickets and dismissed Zakir Hasan and Hasan Mahmud in his consecutive overs to give the visitors two early blows. At the end of the day 4, Bangladesh is batting at 26-2 with Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque on the pitch.
