In a low-scoring affair India posted a paltry total of 229 despite Rohit Sharma's 87-run knock. In reply, Indian bowlers ran through the England's batting line-up and bundled them to just 129 which catapulted the Men In Blue to top of the points table. Mohammed Shami's brilliant 4/22, Jasprit Bumrah's 3/32 and Kuldeep Yadav's 2/24 caused England's batting collapse to ultimately script Team India's sixth straight victory in the ongoing ODI World Cup.

On the other hand, England's nightmarish show only got extended in the match against India. Despite the star studded side, none of the England's player posed a threat to India. From Buttler (10 off 23) to the likes of Dawid Malan (16 off 17), Joe Root (0 off 1), Ben Stokes (0 off 10), Moeen Ali (15 off 31), Liam Livingstone (27 off 46), everyone disappointed with their performances.

Meanwhile, in the post match presentation, England skipper Buttler lashed out at England's top players after team's 100-run defeat against India. The gutted Buttler said that it was all about committing and executing one's skills. He also admitted that the top players were a long way short of their best.

“Very disappointed. At the halfway stage, chasing 230, we fancied ourselves, same old story. I wasn't sure if dew would come or not. We bowled well, took wickets, we would have taken 229. Personally, I wanted to soak some pressure up and then build a partnership and kill the momentum that India had. It's about committing and executing your skill. There wasn't scoreboard pressure. We are just falling short whichever way we are doing it. Some top players, we are a long way short of our best. Excellent start in the powerplay, there was a bit of indifferent bounce, the ground fielding was good. It felt like today was the day, but we didn't back it up with the bat. We still got lots to play for,” Buttler said after England's defeat.

India will next face Sri Lanka on November 2 while England will be up against Australia on November 4.
