The International Cricket Council (ICC) has come up with another update on ODI World Cup 2023 after announcing the rescheduled fixtures of the marquee tournament which is set to kick off from October 5. The apex cricket council has confirmed that ODI World Cup's ticket sales will be up for grabs from August 25 in seven phases. The showpiece event's inaugural match will see a high-voltage clash between the World Cup 2019's finalists, England and New Zealand, at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

For the hassle free ticket sales for India matches among the fans, ICC has announced a phase-wise process for the same. Starting August 25, tickets for games not featuring India, as well as non-India warm-up matches, will be up for grabs. Understandably, fans can secure tickets for matches involving nine countries - England, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the Netherlands, excluding India, from August 25

But the ticket sales for India's matches is a bit complicated. The ICC has chosen to segment ticket sales based on the venues. Ticket sales for India's preparatory matches will commence on August 30, while those for the main tournament will be accessible from August 31. Notably, tickets for the rescheduled India versus Pakistan game, now set for October 14 instead of October 15, will be available from September 3.

In order to cater to the high demand and provide maximum fans an opportunity to witness the marquee event's clashes, the ticket releases have been planned for the below mentioned dates:

  1. 1. August 25 – Non-India warm-up matches and all non-India event matches
    2. August 30 – India matches at Guwahati and Trivandrum
    3. August 31 – India matches at Chennai, Delhi and Pune
    4. September 1 – India matches at Dharamsala, Lucknow and Mumbai
    5. September 2 – India matches at Bengaluru and Kolkata
    6. September 3 – India matches at Ahmedabad
    7. September 15 – Semi Finals and Final

The fans have also been advised to register on ICC's website but the link for the ticket sales will be functional from August 15.

"This will enable them to receive ticket news first and help secure their spot at the World Cup, and experience the joy of cricket in one day," the ICC said.

“We are delighted to announce that fans can register to receive information and updates on official tickets for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. The schedule, after some amendments, has now been finalized and fans can now look forward to buying tickets and watching some high-quality cricket. The BCCI will leave no stone unturned to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience at all the hosting venues," said BCCI CEO Hemang Amin.

ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley said: “Tickets for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will go on sale this month and we call on all of cricket’s hundreds of millions of fans to register your interest from next week to ensure you are one of the first to receive ticket news and to be a part of the biggest Cricket World Cup. The amendment to the schedule will ensure that players and fans will have the best possible experience at the pinnacle event of the one-day game.”

Notably, ticket holders for the 2023 World Cup are required to obtain and present physical tickets at stadium entrances. BCCI secretary Jay Shah following a discussion with state associations on July 28 had confirmed the development. He had said that e-tickets cannot be implemented for the ODI World Cup 2023.
