Many people envision themselves finding love in friendships. If not friends, then with family, we strive to find kinship, as sometimes these bonds grow into something beautiful. And something similar happened to Indian medium-pacer Deepak Chahar, who will unfortunately miss out T20 World Cup after suffering an injury. He will have the love of his life, his wife Jaya Bhardwaj to accompany him in supporting India from the sidelines. But how did the duo's magical love life come into being?
Bowled by his sister's friend
The two first met via Deepak's sister Malti Chahar and soon after that, they became very close friends. Shortly after this, both Deepak and Jaya kept in close touch but did not understand when their blossoming friendship turned into something more. Just like how Deepak has bowled batter's around the world with his sharp swing bowling, he himself was clean bowled by Jaya, perhaps falling in love at the first sight. Although the two met via his sister, this was just the beginning of something new. After their meeting, they started liking each other and soon their conversations started. Their love for each other was in fast-track mode and due to this, after just a few months of meeting each other, the two of them got engaged.
A beautiful proposal
Deepak actually proposed to the love of his life after a match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings during the UAE leg of the 2021 IPL season. The picture of his heartfelt proposal was also shared on social media by Malti.
Proposal at the behest of Dhoni
Chahar proposed to Jaya after the match. She was also present in the stand to watch the match when Deepak waded through the audience and expressed his love by getting down on his knees in front of the fans. His girlfriend was understandably in tears of joy and immediately shared her love by saying 'yes'. After this, they both hugged and exchanged rings. Later Deepak also told that the idea of proposing to his love in this manner was given by the CSK captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Their marriage
After proposing on the cricket field, Deepak and Jaya tied the knot on June 2 on 2022. Deepak announced their wedding with many beautiful pictures of him and his wife on Instagram. One of the pictures also had a beautiful caption that read: "When we met for the first time, I realized that you were made for me only. We have lived every single moment and now we will be together forever. I promise that I will keep you happy. These are the most beautiful moments of my life."
Who is Jaya?
Deepak's wife Jaya Bhardwaj is a resident of Barakhamba Road in Delhi. He is the head of digital content in a telecom company in the capital city. Jaya was a school topper during her younger days in class 12. She then studied art and later did her MBA as well. Jaya's brother is Siddharth Bhardwaj, who also came on many famous TV shows like Splitsvilla, Bigg Boss, Fear Factor and Khatron Ke Khiladi.
