Team India is currently in Australia preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. Indian players have started practising on Australian soil to get comfortable in the conditions before the five-Test match series. Mumbai-based batter Sarfaraz Khan who made his Test debut in 2024 during the England tour of India is also the part of Rohit Sharma-led squad for the upcoming series.
Sarfaraz recently featured in the three-Test match series against New Zealand where he scored his maiden red-ball century for India. This will be the first overseas assignment for Sarfaraz and as per the reports, the batter is struggling on Australian soil against India's net bowlers.
As per the West Australian, Sarfaraz was seen leaving short balls on the crease and chopping balls outside his off stump onto the wickets.
"Sarfaraz Khan looked every bit the batter who hasn’t played outside of the subcontinent. He was caught on the crease fending shortballs and chopping balls outside his off stump onto the wickets" posted the West Australian.
Sarfaraz Khan who made his Test debut on February 15 has played six Test matches so far where he scored 371 runs with a highest score of 150 at an average of 37.10.
The upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be important for India because that will decide Rohit Sharma-led side's fortunes for the World Test Championship Final. India needs to win 4-0 in five Test match series against Australia to qualify for the WTC final without depending on other teams.
