Former India captain Virat Kohli who smashed an unbeaten century during the Perth Test match against Australia failed to perform in the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. India's batting great managed to score 18 runs in the pink ball Test where Pat Cummins-led side registered their dominating 10-wicket win to level the ongoing five-Test match series in Australia. 

Despite his poor performance in the Adelaide Test, Kohli is on the verge of surpassing India's legendary batter Rahul Dravid. The 36-year-old batter need just two runs to surpass India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning coach as Dravid scored 2166 red-ball runs against the Aussies in 62 innings at an average of 38.67. Kohli's total count currently stands at 2165 runs in 48 innings at an average of 47.06.

After losing the second Test match, Rohit Sharma-led India will look to make a comeback by winning the third Test match, scheduled to take place in Brisbane, Gabba.

Shubman Gill to surpass Yuvraj Singh's record

India's young batter Shubman Gill missed the first Test match as he fractured his thumb during a practice session at WACA in Perth and made it to the playing XI for the second Test in Adelaide. Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2021-22 winning star failed to perform in the second Test match he he just scored 31 and 28 in two innings. The 25-year-old batter who has been mentored by India legend Yuvraj Singh will surely look to bounce back in the third Test match and if he manages to perform in Gabba then he will surpass his mentor in tally of career Test runs. With 1859 runs currently in 56 innings, Gill is just 42 runs away from surpassing Yuvraj's 1900 runs in 62 innings. Yuvraj, a white-ball icon and winner of the ODI as well as the T20 World Cup, didn't have a long Test career, which lasted only 40 matches.
 

Rishabh Pant to go past Sunil Gavaskar

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant just needs five runs to surpass legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar in terms of Test runs in Gabba. Gavaskar just played two innings at The Gabba, scoring 116 runs. Pant has also played two innings at the venue and scored 112 runs which includes his 89 not out in India's thrilling win in January 2021, which ended Australia's unbeaten run at the Gabba since 1988.
