After various ups and downs, finally, India’s tour of South Africa will commence as team India prepare for the three-match Test and ODI series. The majority of the team members have gathered in Mumbai and are entitled to undergo strict three-day quarantine before flying to South Africa. Indian team is scheduled to fly to South Africa on December 15

The members of the Test squad will board a chartered plane to Johannesburg.

As per reports, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur were involved in a mini-camp. The three-day camp was organised at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai under the close inspection of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey. Other members of the squad are also part of the bio-bubble in order to stay away from the outbreak of Covid-19.

The India A team is also aware of the current norms implemented by the central and state governments. India A side avoided landing in Mumbai as the Maharashtra government has implemented strict norms on account of the outbreak of the Omicron variant. The A-side boarded a flight directly to Ahmadabad from Bloemfontein.

The members of the Test team have gathered in a five-star hotel near the Mumbai International Airport. The tour was initially planned to start on December 17 but due to the emergence of a new Omicron variant of the coronavirus the series will now start on Boxing Day (December 26) at Centurion.

The tour was subject to postponement before the two boards had a fruitful conversation to give the green light. Virat Kohli will be eager to draw the first blood as he could become the first captain to win a Test series on South African soil.
