Rohit Sharma-led Team India is gearing up for a full-throttle bilateral series against the West Indies. The Indian side arrived in the Caribbean a few days ago and trained rigorously for the first Test of the tour, scheduled to begin on July 12 (Wednesday). India and West Indies will lock horns in the first of two Test series in Dominica. It's now time for Rohit Sharma & Co. to put their practice to work and secure a positive result.
Ahead of the opening Test match in Dominica, former India captain and maverick batter, Virat Kohli and head coach reflected on the last time India were in Dominica to play a Test match in 2011. Both Kohli and Dravid were part of the Test against West Indies in Dominica in 2011, which ended in a draw. It was Kohli's first Test series of his career and Dravid saw great potential in the right-handed batter at the time.
"I remember Virat. It was his first Test series with the Indian team. He was this young kid who had done well in one day cricket. He was just finding his feet in Test cricket. But you could see some special talent out there," Dravid said in a video shared by the BCCI.
"You could see that he was going to be around there for a while. How long you can never say, but he can be proud of his journey. I certainly never thought I would coach and come here so. It's nice to see his journey, seen him go from being a young player on that trip to now being a senior player on the trip. It's been great to see that journey," he added.
Earlier, Kohli had shared a post with Dravid on Instagram reflecting on the same journey.
"The only two guys part of the last test we played at Dominica in 2011. Never imagined the journey would bring us back here in different capacities. Highly grateful," Kohli captioned the post.
