India reached 288 for the loss of four wickets on Day 1 of the second and final Test against the West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain on Thursday, July 20. At stumps, Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 87 and Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on 36 runs.

In doing so, Kohli is now just 13 runs away from the 76th century of his international career.

The 34-year-old former India opener hit eight fours during his innings of 161 balls. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has faced 84 balls so far, with 4 fours to his name. Jadeja and Kohli have so far shared 106 runs in 201 balls for the fifth wicket.

Before Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma (80) and young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal (57) also scored crucial runs for India.

This is the 500th international match of Virat Kohli's career, which he would like to make memorable with a brilliant innings. Kohli has become the first batter to score 50 or more runs in his 500th international match. During this brilliant innings, Kohli in now fifth in terms of the most international runs, overtaking South African legend Jacques Kallis.

Virat also completed his 2000 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) during this innings. Apart from Virat, only Rohit Sharma has completed 2000 runs among the Indian batters.

Virat also became the Indian batsman batter with the most runs in Test cricket in 2023.
