IPL 2024 Orange Cap: Sanju Samson enters top 5 and moves ahead of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli firmly perched on summit

Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson once again finds himself in the top five contenders for the Orange Cap. He played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten with 38 runs off 28 balls against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 22. Sanju Samson replaced the Gujarat Titans' (GT) skipper Subhman Gill who now finds himself out of contention. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma stands in fifth place. However, Rohit was dismissed for only six runs against RR on April 22 in Jaipur.

On the other hand, RR's Riyan Parag remains in the third spot, although he didn’t get the chance to bat in the match against MI. Riyan Parag is right behind Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) explosive opener Travis Head, who came in second after scoring 89 runs off just 32 balls against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 20.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli still holds the top position. However, he was dismissed for only 18 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 21.

Virat Kohli (RCB)

The star Indian batter continues to lead the race with 379 runs from just eight matches at a strike rate of 150.39. Virat has scored two half-centuries and a century this season. No other batter has displaced Virat from the top position to claim the Orange Cap.

Travis Head (SRH)

The dangerous Australian batter has showcased his power-hitting abilities in the shortest format. Travis Head has amassed 324 runs from just six matches at a blistering strike rate of 216.00. Recently, he scored a century against RCB on April 15 and has registered two half-centuries this season.

Riyan Parag (RR)

The young batter from Assam, who faced criticism in the last few seasons for his performance, has been promoted to the middle-order and has scored 318 runs from seven matches with a remarkable strike rate of 161.42. Riyan has recorded three half-centuries this season.

Sanju Samson (RR)

RR skipper Sanju Samson, who has shown inconsistency in the past few seasons, is now displaying consistency. He has played crucial knocks for the franchise, scoring 314 runs from eight matches with a strike rate of 152.42 and registering three fifties.

Rohit Sharma (MI)

The Indian skipper and former MI captain, Rohit Sharma remains in contention for the Orange Cap. Although he has not registered a fifty this season, he has scored a century. Rohit has accumulated 303 runs from eight matches at a strike rate of 162.90.
