The excitement among fans to watch Rishabh Pant back in action is palpable. The star Indian cricketer is set to lead the Delhi Capitals franchise in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It's been 15 months since Pant last featured in a cricket match and as his comeback day nears, fans are excited to watch the entertaining cricketer back in action. Pant will be seen leading the Delhi Capitals in their first match of IPL 2024, which will be against the Punjab Kings on March 23 (Saturday).
Over a billion eyes will be glued to the televisions to watch how Pant fairs on the ground after recovering from a near-fatal car crash, which almost threatened to end his cricketing career.
What happened when Pant featured in his IPL match?
It was May 21, 2022, that Pant last appeared in an IPL match. It was the 69th match of the tournament that was played between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Pant was the captain of Delhi but he would like to erase the memory of that game as his team ended up losing the contest.

Delhi batted first and scored 159/7 in their 20 overs, with Rovman Powell top-scoring for the team. Ishan Kishan led the Mumbai Indians' run chase and scored 48 runs off 35 balls. In the end, Delhi Capitals lost the game by five wickets and as many balls remaining in the contest.
How did Pant perform in that match?
Pant was Delhi Capitals' second-leading run-getter that that fixture. The left-handed batter scored 39 runs off 33 balls with the help of four balls and a six. He registered a strike rate of 118.18 before being caught by Ishan Kishan off Ramandeep Singh's bowling. As a wicket-keeper Pant took one catch.
Overall, Pant scored 340 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2022 at a strike rate of 151.78. The explosive batter failed to score even a single half-century in the campaign.
