Rashid dropped an unhappy statement on his performance in IPL 2024.

Gujarat Titans’ (GT) star spinner Rashid Khan opened up on his bowling and his contribution with the bat in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He admitted that he is not happy with his wicket tally but happy to play little roles, which helps his team to clinch victory. However, Rashid’s performance was not impressive in the first few matches of the IPL 2024. He could not claim a single wicket in GT’s opener against Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI). In the next match against Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he conceded 49 runs and took two wickets. Rashid has snared only six wickets from six matches at an economy rate of 7.96.

GT will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 17. Ahead of the clash, Rashid said that he was facing difficulties after coming from surgery and it wasn’t easy to get his own rhythm.

“In the first three games, I struggled a bit coming after the surgery; it wasn't easy to get back to my own rhythm”, Rashid told ANI.

“I am so happy in the last two to three games, I have played how my body allowed me to enjoy my bowling and I am quite happy with that. Wicket wise, I am not happy with that but that is what T20 cricket is all about.

Afghan spinner also spoke about his contribution to the team’s win whether it is with bat or ball. Rashid played a cameo knock of 24 off 11 balls and guided the team to victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

“Sometimes you need to play a little role, which helps the team to win the game and I am trying my best to play that little role. In any part where I can change the momentum of the game, I try my best. I will do my best to take more wickets in the last eight games," Rashid added.

Rashid also lavished praise on Shubman Gill’s performance as a captain and his commitment to delivering the best for the team and scoring runs despite having the captaincy bag on his shoulders. Gill was appointed as the captain after Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians (MI).

"He has been great since Day 1. It is so good to see him; he is leading from the front. The way he has been delivering with the bat even though he has captaincy on his shoulders. He is someone who tries to do his best as well, doesn't matter what the condition or situation is."

“He is delivering the best for the team and I think he has been delivering the best in captaincy as well. He is helping the guys in the right way to perform, which is so pleasing to see," Rashid added.
