Playoff hopefuls Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in a must-win encounter at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (May 21). But RCB's playoff chances might take a major hit with Bengaluru witnessing heavy rains ahead of the all-important clash. Hailstorm has been witnessed in certain parts of Bengaluru and the weather does not look conducive for the match for the rest of the day.

Weather forecast

The outdoor warm-up session was also marred by the incessant rain and chances are high that the match might be called off or delayed if weather doesn't improve.

The extent of rain is predicted to be close to 50 per cent around 4 PM. The rain chances are expected to further increase to 50 per cent and it can go upto 65 per cent around the toss time i.e 7:00 pm. The weather might show some sign of improvement between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm. In case the match gets underway it will end late in the night as chances of rain will drop to 30 per cent after midnight.

RCB's playoff chances if rain plays spoilsport

Playoff hopefuls RCB and already table toppers GT will get one point each if the crunch game gets called off at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. In that situation RCB will end up securing 15 points but that won't ensure their playoff chances. Their fate will then depend on the ongoing match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). If Rohit Sharma's MI manage to thrash SRH, they will better RCB's points with 16 and will cruise into the playoffs. Notably, GT (with 18 points) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have already sealed their playoff berths the fourth team yet to be decided.
