Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went ahead and bought Bangladesh veteran Litton Das at his base price of Rs 50 Lakh during the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the wicketkeeper-batter is looking forward to improving himself in the league.

Litton has scored 1388 runs in 64 T20I innings for Bangladesh. Although his average of 22.03 is quite low for this format, the Bangladeshi has an above-average strike rate of 128.88, making him a dangerous prospect. Finally making his IPL debut, the wicketkeeper-batter might be the wildcard that Kolkata need to get back into the trophy cabinet.

Speaking to Sportstar in an exclusive interview, Litton Das was appreciative of his move to KKR and is hopeful of becoming a much better player after playing in the IPL. “The IPL is a huge platform and you get to play high-intensity games. Sharing the dressing room with some of the big names in world cricket will help me immensely, because the more you get to know them, the better it is for you to pick their brains and learn a thing or two.

“Once you interact with them, it will help me better my game and boost my mental strength,” the 28-year-old opener added.

Bangladesh have always been the team that falls one step short of being a great team, especially in conditions foreign to the ones that they are used to in Bangladesh. Litton stressed the need to play regularly under such conditions but does not think that he will be able to play county cricket given the packed international schedule that Bangladesh have.

“I am definitely thinking about it. But the problem is that we have a packed international schedule and it is difficult to squeeze out some time for county cricket. We play throughout the year, so if there’s a window, I will try to play in county cricket because I can play there for a couple of seasons, it will help me improve my game,” he said.
