IPL 2023: Team-wise win and loss tally of each franchise in cash-rich league history

Before the cash-rich tournament gets underway for the 16th time, we take a look at all the teams and their win/loss record in the greatest franchise T20 league in the world.

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 31 and players participating in the cash-rich tournament have already started training with their respective franchises. Under Hardik Pandya's leadership and Ashish Nehra's astute coaching, the Gujarat Titans defeated all the experienced teams and emerged as champions in just their maiden season. Before the cash-rich tournament gets underway for the 16th time, we take a look at all the teams and their win/loss record in the greatest franchise T20 league in the world.

Mumbai Indians: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have played 231 matches in the IPL and Men in Blue has the best record. Mumba have won 129 matches while also facing defeat in 98 matches. While winning two tie matches, Mumbai have lost in the other two tie matches in the super-over. Mumbai's win percentage is 56.7.

Chennai Super Kings: Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings are the second-most successful team in the IPL. Chennai have played 209 matches in 15 years of IPL, winning 121 matches in the process. The Yellow Army have lost 86 matches. Apart from this, one match was tied and one match ended with No Result. Chennai's win percentage is 58.41.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders have won the third-best record in the IPL. The Kolkata-based franchise have played 223 matches, winning 113 games and losing 106 matches in the process. Four matches ended in a tie. Kolkata have a win percentage of 51.56.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: The Bangalore-based franchise has never the IPL trophy. They have played 227 matches. winning 107 games and losing 113 contests in the process. Three of their matches ended in a tie while four games ended with No Result. The winning percentage of RCB is 48.65.

Delhi Capitals: The Delhi-based franchise was earlier known to be Delhi Daredevils. The name was changed from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals. The Delhi team has played 224 matches in IPL, winning 100 matches and losing 118 contests in the process. Delhi's win percentage is 45.

Punjab Kings: The Punjab-based franchise has played 218 matches in the IPL, winning 98 games and losing 116 games in the process. There of their matches ended in a tie. Punjab have a win percentage is 45.87.

Rajasthan Royals: The Rajasthan-based franchise won the title in 2008. Overall, they have played 192 matches, winning 94 and losing 93 matches in the process. Three of their matches ended in a tie while two games ended with No Result. They have a win percentage of 50.26.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: In the beginning, the Hyderabad-based franchise was known as Deccan Chargers. From the year 2008 to the year 2012, Deccan Chargers won 29 matches out of 75 games they played in the IPL and lost 46 contests. After being renamed to Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchise has played 152 matches, winning 74 matches and losing as many games in the process. Four of their matches ended in a tie.

Gujarat Titans: The Gujarat-based franchise won the IPL in just their maiden season in 2022. Gujarat won 12 out of 16 matches while tasting defeat four times. Gujarat's win percentage is 75.

Lucknow Super Giants: The Lucknow-based franchise also made their maiden appearance in the cash-rich league in 2022. Lucknow registered nine wins in 15 matches in the year 2022 while tasting defeat in six matches. Lucknow has a win percentage of 60.
