Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a 14-run victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 3 (Saturday) to remain unbeaten in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Batting first, GT posted a solid total of 171/6 in 20 overs. Their opening batter Shubman Gill played a terrific knock of 84 runs off 46 balls to help his side in registering a defendable total. Gill’s innings was comprised of 6 boundaries and 4 sixes.

Skipper's praise

While talking about Gill’s superb innings, Titans skipper Hardik Pandya said that “this is the Shubman Gill we want to see.”

“This is the Shubman we all want to see and I hope all the other batters can take confidence from him," Hardik said in the post-match presentation.

“Really happy with the way boys are coming out and contributing. The kind of attack we have, we always felt that we can make a score that’s 10 under-par look like 25 above," GT skipper further added.

In reply, DC lost their first three wickets within five overs. Skipper Rishabh Pant (43 runs off 29 balls) and Lalit Yadav (25 runs off 22 balls) tried to put up some efforts but eventually the Delhi-based franchise managed to reach 157/9 in 20 overs.

Lockie's superb bowling

On the other hand, Titans pacer Lockie Ferguson picked up four wickets to earn a crucial victory for his side. The Kiwi pacer was adjudged Player of the Match for his match-winning bowling display. Skipper Hardik believes that Lockie’s over “really changed things for” GT.

“I thought there were periods were Delhi were ahead, but then that Lockie over really changed things for us. We were about 10-15 short. But with the bowling we have, I’m confident of making it up in the field," Pandya explained.

“We were one bowler short with Aaron’s injury, had to take it as deep as possible and it worked for us. Till Rishabh was there, the game was in the balance or maybe Delhi was ahead, and that over from Lockie really turned it for us.”

GT currently have four points after winning their two matches in the ongoing edition of IPL. The Gujarat-based franchise are now at third spot in the IPL standings. On the other hand, DC are now at fourth spot with two points from two matches.
