Venues for IPL playoffs yet to be decided; Women's IPL likely to start from 2023

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is scheduled to begin from March 26 and a Governing Council meeting was held before the commencement of the IPL and the IPL chairman Brijesh Patel, informed Sports Tak that the venues for the playoff matches are yet to be decided.

On the other hand, the Women's Challengers, in all likelihood, will be played in Pune.

 

Women's IPL update

Apart from this, a BCCI source also gave a big indication regarding the women's IPL. It is understood that both men’s and women’s IPL can take place next season.

 

It is worth noting that all the 70 league matches of the upcoming 15th season of IPL will be held across four venues in Maharashtra. Wankhede, DY Patil Stadium, Brabourne stadium, and MCA Stadium will host the group games. There will be a total of 12 doubleheaders in the upcoming IPL season.

 

In the upcoming edition of IPL, 25 percent fans have also been allowed to come. 

 

IPL playoff venues

A lot of rumours have already taken place regarding the venues of the playoff matches but a decision has not yet been taken on this matter.

 

A BCCI source, while talking about the women's IPL, said that the board has made a move in this direction and it is expected that next year, along with the men's IPL, women's IPL will also be experienced.

 

Notably, the 15th edition of IPL is scheduled to start from March 26. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captained by Ravindra Jadeja will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Kolkata-based franchise will be led by Indian batter Shreyas Iyer. The final match of IPL is slated to be played on May 29.

 

Mumbai Indians franchise led by Rohit Sharma will have Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Lucknow Super Giants in Group A of the 2022 edition of IPL.

 

On the other hand, Group B is comprised of defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.

 

With the addition of two new teams, this year’s IPL will have 10 teams vying for the prestigious trophy. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the two new entrants.
