Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his franchise’s joint second-fastest half-century in Indian Premier League (IPL). Jaiswal reached his maiden IPL century off just 19 deliveries. The record for fastest IPL fifty for Royals belongs to wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler. Owais Shah and Sanju Samson have also scored 19-ball fifties in 2010 and 2020 respectively. The record for the fastest IPL fifty across franchises belongs to KL Rahul (14 balls).

The left-handed batter reached his half-century with a six on the fifth ball of the fifth over. He hit Josh Hazlewood’s delivery over long-off to hit a maximum. This is also second-fastest fifty by an uncapped Indian player. Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Ishan Kishan scored a 17-ball half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2018.

The 19-year-old lost his wicket to KM Asif off the first ball after the powerplay overs. He scored 50 runs from 21 deliveries including six fours and three sixes. Earlier in the innings, the southpaw was dropped at the score of 10 in the second over by Ambati Rayudu off Hazlewood’s bowling.

Highest powerplay score
Royals scored 81 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay overs. This is their highest powerplay till date. Their previous best of 73/1 came against Deccan Chargers in the inaugural season of the league.
Jaiswal shared a 77-run opening partnership off just 32 deliveries with Evin Lewis getting Royals’ run chase of 190 off to a flier. Lewis contributed with a 27-run cameo off just 12 deliveries. The powerplay score could have been bigger but Shardul Thakur in the sixth over gave just six runs and took the wicket of the Caribbean opener.
