More than three dead in RCB's victory parade

The victory parade in Bengaluru resulted in a stampede

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) victory parade outside the M. Chinnaswamy stadium has turned into a disaster as more than 11 people have died due to a stampede.

A humongous number of people had gathered outside the stadium to catch a gliimpse of Rajat Patidar and Co. with the coveted IPL trophy, however the mismanagement of the event lead to a stampede which has not only ended up resulting in deaths, but has also injured many.

Death toll and injury count expected to rise

The death toll and the injury count is only expected to rise from here on. This incident will definitely leave a sour taste in the mouths of the people in Bengaluru, who had got out of their homes to celebrate RCB's first-ever IPL triumph. However, what should have been a grand party has turned into an absolute nightmare.

Following RCB's victory in the IPL 2025 final against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, a victory parade was announced to celebrate the side's first-ever IPL title. However things quickly went out of hand and it ended up costing the lives of many. This is a severe case of mismanagement and it begs the question if such celebratory events should take place in the future or not.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar apologized for the tragedy and stated that the crowd was 'uncontrollable'. "I apologise for the overcrowding," Mr Shivakumar said.

Earlier, Home Minister Parameshwara Rao had announced that RCB's victory parade had gotten cancelled. This announcement came just hours before the event was set to begin.

This happened due to logistical and security constraints and the police in Bengaluru also urged the citizens to avoid roads leading to the stadium from 3 PM to 8 PM as heavy traffic was expected on the streets. The team will instead participate in the felicitation ceremony that will be held inside the M. Chinnaswamy stadium from 5 PM to 6 PM.
