Ravindra Jadeja shared his reaction on joining the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the upcoming edition of IPL. The all-rounder has been traded by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a fee of INR 14 crore and they took Sanju Samson in exchange for INR 18 crore. Another player that CSK included in this trade was Sam Curran, who was signned by RR for INR 2.4 crore.
Jadeja set for second stint with RR
With this, Jadeja has now once again become the part of a franchise where it all started Notably, the 36-year-old had began his IPL career with the Royals back during the inaugural season of the tournament in 2007. He won the title with them on the first try, but left for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. Reacting to his return to the Royals, Jadeja remarked that it is a "special" feeling for him to be reunited with the team where he won his first IPL title.
"Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory. Coming back feels special; it’s not just a team for me, it’s home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players," Jadeja said in an official statement.
Sangakkara on Jadeja's arrival into the team
RR's Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara also shared his views on Jadeja joining the team and highlighted that his competitiveness will prove to be valuable for them in the coming season.
“Jadeja coming back to the Royals is incredibly special for all of us. He understands the franchise and the fans, having been part of RR’s IPL-winning campaign," Sangakkara stated.
“Over the years, he has grown into a player who can influence the game in every department. His experience, composure, and competitive edge will add immense value to our group,” he added.
Elsewhere, the Royals have signed Donovan Ferreira from the Delhi Capitals for a fee of INR 1 crore in exchange for Nitish Rana, who has been traded to the Delhi-based franchise for INR 4.2 crore.
