The atmosphere within the Lucknow Super Giants camp has certainly undergone a transformation, shifting from a past disappointments to one of pure elation in just a matter of days. Following LSG's disappointing season-opening loss to Delhi Capitals (DC), where the dressing room was filled with tense expressions as team owner Sanjiv Goenka addressed the players, LSG erupted in joyous celebrations after their dominant five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, March 27. LSG rode on Nicholas Pooran's blistering 26-ball 70 successfully chased down the 191-run target in mere 16.1 overs to record their first win in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Meanwhile, the LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was visibly ecstatic the moment David Miller struck the winning runs. The passionate cricket enthusiast Goenka immediately made his way down the stairs and gave a warm hug to Rishabh Pant, who appeared equally thrilled and relieved after LSG's emphatic win. Goenka was also seen warmly congratulating team mentor Zaheer Khan as the leadership group collectively revelled in their success achieved in Hyderabad. The mood in the LSG camp was a stark contrast to their previous outing.

Going into their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, not many had favored Lucknow Super Giants, especially considering their bowling unit had been hit by injuries. This skepticism was further fueled by SRH's explosive performance in their IPL 2025 opener, where they had demolished Rajasthan Royals with a record-shattering total of 286 runs.

However, LSG bowlers defied expectations, as they put on show restrict the hard-hitting SRH batting lineup to 190. Leading this spirited bowling effort was Shardul Thakur, who picked up four crucial wickets, including the prized scalps of the dangerous opening batsmen Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan during the crucial powerplay overs.

Then, in a remarkable turn of events, Lucknow decided to give SRH a taste of their own aggressive batting style, launching a six-hitting spree at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Nicholas Pooran was in scintillating form, unleashing his destructive power to hammer a breathtaking 70 runs off a mere 26 deliveries. He was well-supported by Mitchell Marsh, who contributed a fluent 52 runs off 31 balls. Even though skipper Rishabh Pant had a relatively quiet outing with the bat, scoring just 15 runs, the groundwork laid by Pooran and Marsh allowed LSG to storm past the finish line with considerable ease, securing a memorable win.

LSG will now take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next IPL clash on April 1 while SRH will lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 30.
