Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by four wickets to eliminate the five-time champions from the playoffs race of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. CSK, who had a forgettable outing in the 18th edition of the tournament, becomes the first team to be ruled out of the marquee event playoffs. 

On the other hand, after defeating the MS Dhoni-led side, PBKS moved back into the top four of the points table tally of the showpiece event. PBKS are currently second in the points table with seven wins in 10 matches. Their last clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out.

Coming back to the match, Sam Curran's 88-run knock went in vain as Yuzvendra Chahal's hat-trick, followed by Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer's half-centuries, helped Punjab Kings to register a four-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Iyer, who came to bat in the fifth over after Priyansh Arya's wicket, anchored the innings for his side with a  72 off 40 run knock to guide his team to their sixth win of the tournament.
