In a high-stakes encounter, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a hard-fought nine-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during their IPL 2026 clash at the Ekana cricket stadium on May 8. This win also halted LSG's losing run in the ongoing season.

LSG down RCB by 9 runs

Chasing a DLS-revised target of 213 in 19 overs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced an immediate setback when Prince Yadav dismissed Virat Kohli for a duck in the opening over. Despite the early loss of their star batter, skipper Rajat Patidar spearheaded a spirited recovery, kept the chase alive with a valiant 61 off 31 deliveries. Prince Yadav breaks RCB's back

The momentum swung back in favor of the home side when Prince Yadav returned to the attack to dismantle the RCB middle order. These breakthroughs derailed the visitors' rhythm and placed the pressure firmly back on the lower order as the match entered its final stages.

In a tense finish, RCB required 20 runs from the final over to secure a comeback victory. Tim David ignited a late counter-attack, finishing unbeaten on 40, but he found the task too steep against the bowling of Digvesh Rathi. The foundation of the innings was laid by an aggressive opening partnership between Marsh and Arshin Kulkarni. Marsh eventually reached his milestone century in just 49 deliveries, setting a new franchise record for the fastest hundred by an LSG batter—before Hazlewood finally managed to claim his wicket.

The final flourish was provided by skipper Rishabh Pant, who walked to the crease following Marsh's departure and immediately took charge.
