Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 19. It will be a crucial clash for LSG they can't afford to lose a single match as far as their playoff chances are concerned.
What did the captains say after the toss?
After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins said:
"I will have a bowl, you never know quite to make of the wicket so it's better to chase. We haven't played to our potential, so trying to hit our potential, we also had a few injuries. The team has been great, they have been honest that they haven't been at their best. Travis Head misses out and also Unadkat misses out for personal reasons."
Meanwhile, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, after losing the toss, said:
"We don't mind, we have got to do well. We are looking at one match at a time and not put undue pressure on ourselves. I feel as a team we have regrouped well and we are in a good space as a team. We have only one change, Will O'Rourke is making his debut."

Pitch Report
"It’s a fantastic day but a bit muggy. As far as the ground dimensions are concerned, there’s discrepancy square, 60m is the short one, 69m is the long one and it’s 75m straight down the ground. Even better as a batter when you walk out and you see a little sheen on the wicket, that means the new ball in particular will skid on. The more the lights take effect, the more you begin to celebrate as a batter, I think this will be an absolute beauty to bat on. The trend in this tournament has been to chase the runs down, I don’t see it changing in the 40 overs so back yourself later on. There has been only one score of 200 at this venue this season and that had won the game, I will say a little bit further up, it’s a good one," Pommie Mbangwa and Aaron Finch analysed the pitch.
Head-to-Head
SRH and LSG have locked horns with each other five times in IPL so far. While SRH have clinched just one win, LSG have emerged victorious in four games.
