Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Nita Ambani was left surprised by former captain Rohit Sharma’s transformation as she saw him padded up for a net session. On March 26, Nita met the team ahead of their their clash against three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. She went on to say that Rohit looks like a young boy.

“My God, Rohit, I didn’t recognise you! You look like a young boy,” she said in a video posted by MI on March 27.

She also met the players and support staff, including former all-rounder Kieron Pollard who she introduced as "Polly Kaka".

Rohit has undergone rigorous training sessions to lose weight since he retired from Test cricket. He has already retired from T20Is and the only format he players on the international stage is in the ODIs.

Rohit’s form in white-ball cricket

Rohit scored a century and a fifty on Australia tour. He followed it up with two fifties against South Africa. He returned to Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) with a 155-run knock. Since then, his bat has been quiet. He did not score a half-century against New Zealand in ODI series earlier this year as he got out after getting starts.

Rohit’s IPL record 

Rohit is currently second on the list of leading run-scorer in IPL history, only behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) Virat Kohli. From 272 games, the opener has 7,046 runs averaging close to 30. His strike rate is 132.09. The 38-year-old has two centuries and 47 fifties. Also, he has second-most sixes (302) in IPL history.

Rohit to break Warner’s record vs KKR

Rohit has a splendid record against KKR, their opponent in the opener. He is among three batters who have 1,000-plus runs against the franchise. From 35 games against KKR, he has 1,0832 runs at an average of 38.67 and strike rate of 127.86. One of his two centuries came against KKR. He has six fifties as well. He needs just 11 runs to break David Warner's record for most runs against KKR.
