Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a commanding win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 2 fixture, which was played on Friday, May 29 at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. GT skipper Shubman Gill was star of the night, as he scored a stunning century against RR while chasing a big target of 215.

Shubman Gill joins Virat Kohli

After the game, Gill was given the Player of the Match award for his stunning 104 off 53, which came at a strike rate of 196.23 with the help of 15 boundaries and three sixes. However, during his stay at the crease, Gill managed to join Virat Kohli in an elite list.

With his stunning century, Gill surpassed the 700-run mark in the ongoing season of IPL 2026, which made him the second Indian player after Virat to score 700 runs as a captain in a single season.

Earlier, Virat Kohli recorded 700-plus runs in a single season as captain. The former India skimmer gathered massive 973 runs in 16 outings in the 2016 edition while leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
