Virat Kohli makes special request to fans for Rajat Paitdar in RCB Unboxing event ahead of IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bangalore held their Unboxing event in anticipation of the Indian Premier League's 2025 season, on March 15 (Monday). Virat Kohli spoke to the RCB supporters during the event and made a unique request. The team's senior batter presented Rajat Patidar, their new captain, to the Chinnaswamy Stadium crowd. Since he believed the new captain would guide the team for many years to come, Kohli asked the supporters to show him a lot of affection.

"The guy who is going to come next is the guy who will lead you for a long time. So, give him all the love that you can. He is an amazing talent. He has a great head on his shoulders, and he will do a great job for this amazing franchise and take the team forward. He has got everything that it requires," Virat Kohli said at the RCB Unbox event.

After the team released Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar was named the RCB team's captain. Patidar, who joined the squad in 2021, was chosen to lead the team over the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Liam Livingstone, and Krunal Pandya. As the RCB welcomed a new era, Virat Kohli gave the batter a plaque at the event.

At the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the team is presently training in Bengaluru before their opening clash against KKR, the fans also had the opportunity to meet the complete team. On Saturday, March 22, RCB takes on the reigning champions, the Kolkata Knight Riders, in the Indian Premier League opener.

For the 2025 IPL season, RCB has assembled a new team. Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, and Faf du Plessis were among the team's top players let go, and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik gave up Indian cricket to participate in the SA20.
