Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma will not be a part of the second Test match in Mumbai as the trio have sustained injuries from the Kanpur Test. The team management has confirmed that the trio are not fit and will now miss out. This also means that Cheteshwar Pujara who has not been in form of late will retain his position. Mohammed Siraj replaced Ishant as the Delhi seamer was already on the fringes after remaining wicketless at Green Park.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is also out of the Mumbai Test after the recurring elbow injury prevented him from taking part in the training session and will be a huge miss for the visitors. The news comes as a blow for the Kiwis who are still looking for the their first Test win in 33 years. Tom Latham took over the captaincy for the last Test of the tour.

Williamson who led New Zealand to the World Test Championship (WTC) tittle in June was full of expectation that his team had enough to win on Indian soil. He averaged more than 64 in the past couple of years but will be warming the benches. Interestingly, both the captains from the first Test in Kanpur will sit out.
