Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally dived in the Wriddhiman Saha's threat case where the latter was pestered and insulted by a journalist for not giving a interviewing following the wicketkeeper batter's snub from India Test squad from Sri Lanka home series.

BCCI is calling for a thorough investigation on the Saha-journo episode to figure out the name of the culprit. As per the latest development, every single detail pertaining to the case including the shared tweet is being looked into. The cricket body will also try to find out whether any other cricketer has gone through the same or not.

“Saha is a contracted cricketer of the BCCI. The onus is on the Board to not let its own player down. That aside, if there is any kind of a nexus at work here, one has to look into it,” a BCCI official said.

Earlier, while sharing the screenshot of the chat, Saha posted on Twitter, “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket…this is what I face from a so called ‘Respected’ journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

The journalist was seemingly pestering the player for an interview. The chat shared by Saha read," Do an interview with me. Will be good. If you want to be democratic then I won't push. They choose one wicketkeeper, whoever is the best. You try to choose 11 journalists, which is not the best according to me. Choose whoever can help the most."

"You did not call. Never again will I interview you. I don't take insults kindly and I will remember this. This wasn't something you should have done," the chat added.

The former India head coach Ravi Shastri urged BCCI's president Sourav Ganguly to look into the matter. Shastri along with some cricketers extended his support to the the 37-year-old wicketkeeper batter and called it 'Blatant position abuse'.

“Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that’s happening too frequently with #TeamIndia. Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS,”  Shastri tweeted.

Reacting to Saha’s post on Twitter going viral, Sehwag and Harbhajan quote-tweeted it back and backed Saha to the hilt.

Harbhajan urged Saha to reveal the name of the journalist and then urged the BCCI to protect players from such threats.

"Wridhi you just name the person so that the cricket community knows who operates like this. Else even the good ones will be put under suspicion...," Harbhajan said.

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag tweeted: "Extremely sad. Such sense of entitlement, neither is he respected nor a journalist, just chamchagiri. With you Wriddhi."
