The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its 93rd Annual General Meeting in Bengaluru on September 29, 2024, where several significant decisions regarding the future of Indian cricket were made. A key highlight was the election of two representatives to the IPL Governing Council: Arun Singh Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya, who will bring their expertise to the governance of the Indian Premier League. Additionally, V. Chamundeswarnath was nominated by the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) as a player representative and was officially inducted into the IPL Governing Council during the AGM.
 

The General Body also reviewed and adopted the audited accounts for the financial year 2023-24, reinforcing transparency and accountability in the BCCI's financial dealings. Additionally, the Annual Budget for the upcoming financial year 2024-25 was approved, paving the way for future investments in cricket development.

 

Another significant topic of discussion was the IPL Governing Council's recommendations regarding the player auction cycle for 2025-2027. Members approved various provisions, including player retention options, the right to match, and salary cap regulations, all designed to enhance the league's competitiveness while ensuring financial stability for the franchises.

Here are the key decisions made by BCCI in the 93rd Annual General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)

 

  • The cricket board added Arun Singh Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya to the Indian Premier League governing council ahead of the upcoming mega auction.

 

  • V. Chamundeswarnath was nominated by the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) as a player representative and was inducted to the IPL Governing Council at the AGM.

 

  • The audited accounts for FY 2023-24 were passed and adopted by the General Body.

 

  • The Annual Budget of FY 2024-25 was approved by the General Body.

 

  • The recommendations of the IPL Governing Council with respect to the player auction cycle 2025-2027 were approved. This included the provisions of player retentions, right to match, salary cap, etc.

 

  • The members of the General Body appreciated the efforts of the office bearers for the work undertaken with respect to the new National Cricket Academy campus, the Centre of Excellence.

 

  • The members unanimously resolved to maintain BCCI’s legal status as a society. The members further resolved that the tournaments of the BCCI, including IPL, shall not be converted to a company.
