Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly's tweet on June 1 led to rumours that he has resigned as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President. Ganguly wrote in his tweet that he is starting a new chapter in his life but did not specify. As a result, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had to give a clarification over Ganguly's tweet.

"Sourav Ganguly has not resigned as the president of BCCI," Shah told ANI.

“2022 marks the 30th year since the start of my journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, cricket has given me a lot, most importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank every single person who has been a part of the journey, supported me, and helped me reach where I am today. Today, I am planning to start something that I feel will probably help a lot of people. I hope you continue your support as I enter this chapter of my life,” Ganguly wrote in a tweet.

Recently, the duo attended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad which was won by Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT).

Ganguly’s three-year tenure as BCCI President will come to an end in September 2022. He took up the job in 2019, few months after India’s exit from World Cup 2019 with a narrow loss to New Zealand in the semi-final.
