Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction before the 2023 season is likely to take place in Turkey in December. A top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a conversation with Sports Tak revealed that the board is planning to host IPL mini-auction in Turkey.
“There is discussion over hosting the IPL mini-auction in Istanbul, Turkey with Bengaluru as second venue option. The final call is yet to be taken by the governing council,” the source told Sports Tak on the condition of anonymity.
IPL mini auction is scheduled to take place on December 16, 2022.
Earlier, the franchises have been asked to submit their list of retained and released players by November 15, 2022, two days after T20 World Cup 2022 final.
Before the IPL 2023 mini-auction, the salary purse has been increased by Rs 5 crore making it a total of Rs 95 crore. Also, from the next edition, IPL will return to home and away format after a gap of three years.
The Covid-19 pandemic and bio-bubbles prevented teams from playing at their original homegrounds. It was done in an attempt to curb the spread of virus as players were more prone to contracting the virus outside the bio-bubble.
