Jasprit Bumrah's blockbuster comeback is on cards as India's pace spearhead is expected to link up with Team India soon ahead of the ODI World Cup which will be played later this year.

It has been learnt that Bumrah might script his comeback in August when Team India will tour to Ireland for a three-match T20I series. The series is scheduled to start from August 18 as all the three matches will be played in Malahide, as reported by News18.

Ireland series will gauge Bumrah's fitness by looking at which his participation in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 will be determined.

“Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian cricket team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury lay-off. If everything stays on course, a Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take field,” an official told News18.

Pestered by the recurring back injury, Bumrah has been sitting on the sidelines of cricket which has cost India big time in the mega events including the recent WTC final which they lost by 209 runs. Bumrah's absence has hurt India not just in the WTC final but also in last year's Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

Since September 2022 Bumrah hasn't played a single match due to his back issues. However, he was rushed into action in the series against Australia after missing the Asia Cup, with T20 World Cup in the offing, but the decision only backfired as his injury aggravated which ruled him out of big series including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and the WTC final. Bumrah was also ruled out of the just concluded IPL 2023.

Nonetheless, Team India's headache in the backdrop of World Cup preparation is likely to end as Bumrah is set to get back into action before the showpiece event gets underway in October.

Couple of days before, ESPNCricinfo also reported that Bumrah is likely to return with Shreyas Iyer for the upcoming Asia Cup in September.
