Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Comilla Victorians arranged for a VIP helicopter for their overseas recruit Mohammad Rizwan on January 14. Just an hour before the game Rizwan arrived at the Zahur Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram for bottom-placed Victorians in the ongoing season.
Rizwan played the third and last ODI of the series against New Zealand at Karachi Stadium on January 13. On the next day, Rizwan arrived in Bangladesh for their clash against Shakib Al Hasan-led Fortune Barishal.
Rizwan kept the wickets for Victorians despite arriving an hour before the game. The Imrul Kayes-led side managed to restrict Fortune Barishal for 177/6 despite Tanvir Islam's four-fer as skipper Shakib scored an unbeaten 81 off 45 deliveries including eight fours and four sixes.
Rizwan could not live upto the expectations with the bat. He entertained the crowd with two sixes during the powerplay overs but lost his wicket to Kamrul Islam in the sixth over. He scored 18 runs off just 11 deliveries in the run chase of 178. Despite Khushdil Shah's unbeaten 27-ball 43, Victorians managed to post 165/7 and lost the game by 12 runs.
Das-led Victorians are yet to win their first game of the tournament. They have lost three consecutive games despite having few international stars in their side.
Earlier, Rizwan scored 74-ball 77 in a losing cause against New Zealand in the third ODI of the series. Rizwan's 77-run knock helped Pakistan post 280/9 after losing opener Shan Masood for a duck and skipper Babar Azam for a single-digit score.
However, Rizwan erred behind the stumps and dropped the crucial catch of Glenn Phillips. Phillips went on to win the game for New Zealand with his unbeaten 63 off 42 balls including four fours and as many sixes.
