England yet again asserted their dominance on minnows Netherlands, beating them by eight wickets to seal a 3-0 series whitewash over the Dutch cricket team. Leading the line for the English batters were stand-in skipper Jos Buttler, who played in place of the injured Eoin Morgan, and opener Jason Roy.
There was a moment of madness during the game, when Buttler, in the 29th over was bowled by Paul van Meekeren. The ball reached Buttler after taking two bounces, with the second one landing outside the pitch down the leg side. Instead of letting the ball run down for a no-ball, Buttler chased after it and smashed it over deep square leg. It was a no-ball and Buttler hit the free hit for six as well.
Earlier in the series, Buttler smashed an unbeaten 162 runs off just 70 balls, with seven fours and 14 sixes as England scored a record 498/4 in the first ODI. Meanwhile, they completed a 3-0 drubbing by winning the last match of their ODI series by eight wickets despite the absence of injured captain Eoin Morgan.
Chasing a commendable target of 248 runs, the Dutch were bundled out for 244 runs after an encouraging start to their innings. Alongside Buttler's contribution, Jason Roy's unbeaten century helped England wrap up their innings with 20 overs to spare.
Roy struck 15 fours on the way to his 101 — his 10th ODI century — while Jos Buttler wrapped up the match, and the series, with a huge six that landed in the trees to finish his innings on 86 runs without losing his wicket. He is also the joint highest run-getter alongside opener Phil Salt.
